How do I preview my Open Graph card before publishing?

Use the SEO panel's built-in social preview or third-party validators to see exactly how your post will look when shared on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook.

To preview your Open Graph card before publishing, open the editor's SEO panel (compass icon, right sidebar) and scroll to the Social Preview section — VeloCMS renders a live card mock-up that updates as you type, showing you exactly what Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook will display when someone shares your link.

Where is the social preview in the editor?

The social preview lives at the bottom of the SEO panel sidebar. It shows three mock-up frames: one in Twitter/X format (wide image at top, title and description below), one in LinkedIn format (image on the left, text on the right), and one in Facebook link format. The mock-ups pull from your post title, featured image, and meta description in real time. If you haven't set a featured image yet, the previews show a gray placeholder so you can see how the card looks without an image — a useful reminder to add one before you hit publish.

How do I check the live card after publishing?

After publishing, you can verify the actual og: tags by using platform-specific validators. Facebook's Sharing Debugger at developers.facebook.com/tools/debug will scrape your URL and show exactly what Facebook sees — paste your post URL and click Debug. LinkedIn's Post Inspector at linkedin.com/post-inspector does the same. For Twitter/X, you can use the card validator at cards-dev.twitter.com/validator (requires being logged in) or just paste the URL into a tweet draft and wait a few seconds for the card preview to render. If a validator shows different data than what VeloCMS generated, check whether there's an old cache version: click Scrape Again or Re-inspect to force a fresh fetch.

What are the ideal image dimensions for each platform?

Twitter/X looks best with a 1200×628 pixel image (roughly 1.91:1 aspect ratio). LinkedIn recommends 1200×627. Facebook works with anything from 1200×628 down to 200×200 for small previews. VeloCMS's image pipeline automatically generates crop variants at these dimensions from your featured image, so as long as your original image is at least 1200 pixels wide you'll get sharp previews on all three platforms. Square images (1:1) are technically valid but get cropped to the horizontal format on Twitter, often losing the most important part of the composition.

Quick pre-publish checklist: featured image is at least 1200px wide, meta description is 150–160 characters, post title is 50–60 characters. These three things ensure every social platform displays your link preview exactly as intended.
